Water of the Desert I / II / III

Water of the Desert I - Touzeur / Timimoun /Taoussi

The irrigation methods in oases were developed centuries ago and may be seen as an attempt at equity. The system and all its existing part today are not the result of abstract planning but rather the result of development that will take as long and last as long as water will flow. The systems may be seen as a reflection of the society, that developed them and which exists because they work. Getting to know the water system also means getting to know the society behind it.

Comparative studies of water systems in three oases documented by photographs and sound recordings.

Part 1 - Tunisia / Tuzeur
Part 2 - Algeria / Timimoun
Part 3 - Morocco / Taoussi
