vision slit
20 light boxes
1 slide projection
10 videos
Room I:
The glass window is darkened save for a vision slit at eye level.
The visitor can observe the proceedings on the street through this slit. A soundtrack over headphones: Short wave radio
There are 20 light boxes installed at eye level on the side walls.
An illuminated strip of still images from a video that was recorded during a city night walk on the 23rd of July, 1993.
Slides are projected onto the back wall. Still images from a video taken through the windscreens of ten taxis at ten locations in Frankfurt in the night of 23.7.1993.
Room II:
There are 10 video monitors in the middle of the room in elliptical arrangement. There is a 9 minute recording on each of the monitors. Views from inside 10 taxis that were positioned at 10 locations in Frankfurt during the SON ET LUMIERE light- sound- and sight event in order to illuminate a “stage” with their headlights. After 9 minutes follows the recording of the walk through the city at night, from one taxi to the next. It was recorded while walking with an interval timer setting the rhythm at 10 seconds. After that begins the recording from the next taxi and so on. Once the last taxi recording has played the tapes rewind to the beginning.
